Sembcorp Salalah clinched the Desalination Deal of the Year award for the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant project at the prestigious Global Water Intelligence’s 2011 Global Water Awards. The US$1 billion financing package was signed in March 2010. Despite the deal coming at the tail end of the financial crisis, the project’s financing team nevertheless secured funding support at a competitive cost. Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of China, China Development Bank, BankMuscat, KfW-IPEX Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, National Bank of Oman and Bank Sohar supported Sembcorp Salalah in the financing of this project. AIWA Awards 2014

Alam al-Iktisaad Wal A’mal (AIWA), a leading Arabic business publication, initiated the annual survey in 2009 to identify the best performing Muscat Securities Market (MSM) listed companies and to recognize the organizations that are excelling in growth and efficiency parameters. Sembcorp Salalah makes its maiden entry to AIWA Awards 2014 by achieving the second position among the sixty-four companies listed in the MSM and those contending for the top positions in AIWA Best Performing Companies Survey this year.

A special report on the Awards 2014 published by AIWA mentions that “Sembcorp Salalah makes its maiden entry to AIWA Awards by taking up the second position. The company has developed, financed, built, owns and operates the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant in Oman. The power plant is the largest and most energy-efficient power and water plant in the Dhofar region. Sembcorp Salalah has also returned the best Topline Growth and Earnings Growth in the large cap segment.”

With sixty-four companies vying for the top slots, the competition was much stringent for the top five positions in each of the three segments – large cap, mid cap and small cap, based on the financial performance in 2013. Sembcorp Salalah emerged at second rank in the large cap with consistent performance on most of the parameters competing with four other large cap manufacturing companies this year.

The top ranked companies were felicitated with AIWA Awards on 23rd June, 2014 at Muscat in a premium event attended by top business leaders, CEOs and senior Government Officials from cross-section of industries, ministries and government bodies. It witnessed the key congregation of the key decision-makers who are driving the businesses and the economy of the Sultanate of Oman. On behalf of the Sembcorp Salalah, the Award was received by Mr. Lim Yeow Keong, the CEO.

Middle East Electricity Award (MEEA) 2015

Sembcorp Salalah has been awarded the Certificate of Recognition in the “HSE Project or Initiative of the Year” category in the prestigious Middle East Electricity Award (MEEA) 2015.

Facing stiff competition from numerous outstanding Companies from all over the Middle East region including Oman, Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company SAOG emerged as one of the 3 companies recognized in this category.

The Middle East Electricity Awards (MEEA), UAE is an event that recognizes, celebrates and rewards the outstanding achievements of the organizations that contribute to the growth and development of the energy industries with focus on the power, HSE, renewable energy, nuclear and water sectors.

The eventual winners were announced at a grand Awards ceremony on 2nd March 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Lim Yeow Keong, CEO, Sembcorp Salalah and Mr. Rakesh Kumar Jha, QHSE Manager, and received the Certificate from the Organizers in the presence of many companies representing the ceremony.

In 2014, Sembcorp Salalah made its maiden entry to the Oman’s AIWA Awards and won the second position in the large cap segment for its best topline growth competing with sixty-four companies vying for the top slots. Earlier in 2011, Sembcorp Salalah was also a Global Water Awards winner of the Desalination Deal of the Year by Global Water Intelligence.
